Restoring Soils and Souls: Art, Advocacy and Fixing Problems
Working Together for Unity, Resilience, Renewal: Healing The Land, Heals People
We need relationships for restorations, resolutions that are simple, sincere and symbiotic. Wildlands explores self-love and service. Are YOU ready to be yourself, be the answer to problems, and be free? If yes, grab your favorite beverage, read this essay and then go within…
Celebrate Relationships and Restorations!
Restore the San Pedro River to its former glory below…
Let’s dream a new world where we are free to be and where wildlife and waters run free!
Border Report featured Kate Scott and Robin Motzer at the San Pedro River. The San Pedro River, once the last free-flowing river in the Desert Southwest now has a wall running through it. Will the River and all inhabitants be free again one day?
As an artist and restoration advocate of non-humans, nature, humans and buildings, and one who witnessed- up close and personal- the destruction of the San Pedro River, San Prieto Wildlife Refuge, and a mountain in Guadalupe Canyon the only place where the bear and the jaguar meet while migrating from Northern Canada to South America. Guadelupe Canyon, as well as the River, was a pristine natural area- the border wall runs through them.
As one who speaks for nature, humans, and non-humans- all have needs- we need a restorative resolution. From Arizona to Texas and beyond, walls destroy flora, fauna and the Biota.
More than 100 wild animals trapped by border wall killed in Texas wildfire.
Restoring Soils and Souls: Restore The Borderlands
When you think of the border, think of the jaguar!
There’s been another jaguar sighting in southern Arizona and it’s the eighth different jaguar documented in the southwestern U.S. since 1996, according to wildlife officials.
It’s important to keep the corridors open, not just for jaguars, but for all species that share the ecosystem with them. We are all connected, all have a purpose and a job to do. We need apex predators for the ecosystem to thrive. Nature has it’s own rules and laws. The river, mountains, deserts, forests, and non-humans who call them home, all have their own laws. Let’s dream that humans respect nature’s laws and stop overpowering, dictating and destroying ecosystems.
Learn from history what works and what doesn’t.
Martin Scorsese’s film, “Killers of the Flower Moon”, details the horrific period in the 1920’s when several Osage members were murdered by criminals seeking to exploit the oil on Osage land.
So many are creating very similar stories of exploitation, extortion and devastation.
Remember, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"
Those who try to make nature, non-humans and humans live in a dictator’s mentally ill world are tortured souls…and they torture the soils and souls. It’s a nightmare.
Enough!
We are living in times of opportunity, The Golden Age!
Let’s dream a new story! Let’s Restore! Restoration Nation!
Are you ready for change, new beginnings, new stories- Ready to restory yourself?
Let’s explore inner policies (universal ethics), redemption and celebration! What is blocking you from harmony and blessings in your life? What is blocking you from your dream life?
A border wall runs through the last free-flowing river in the Desert Southwest. Another opportunity to restore soils and souls. Restorations are happening throughout the U.S. and around the world- Let’s do more of this!
Bee The Change You Wish To See
New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed into law the Birds and Bees Protection Act (A.7640-Glick/S.1856A-Hoylman-Sigal)- a first-in-the-nation law to rein in dangerous and wasteful uses of neonicotinoids or “neonics.”

2024 isn't just about resolution; it's about fundamental transformation. We've realized we cannot keep going the way we have- it’s not working. Think about this:
The ancient healers were leaders who had a deep understanding of how we collectively and individually create our realities through our perception.
We live by literally dreaming the world into being every second.
You can harness the power of your dreams and intentions to craft the most beautiful life you can imagine.
Are you ready to be Divine, a Co-Creator? Are you ready to be Blissful?
Let’s bring a renaissance of peace, love, harmony for nature and all on Mother Earth!
If each of us were at peace, there would be less need of external control mechanisms like massive government and corporate entities. And, when we get really peaceful within, there is no need for greed, political propaganda, no need for manipulation, control, harassment…
When we stop fighting the war within our self, stop the war within the walls of our homes, we stop the need for more at the cost of others. When we each take responsibility to do something good for others, live with ethical principles, it is governance…self-governance at its best. Mr. and Mrs. Presidents of corporations, universities, countries and world, tear down your own walls of deceit, death and destruction. Redeem yourself. Freedom and reciprocity is our story: Restore soils and souls.
Claim YOUR authority within YOU!
After reading my poem, We the People, Restore Soils and Souls, I was asked to run for office by a couple of people, including Kevin Dahl, now Vice Mayor of Tucson, Arizona. Read We the People Restore Soils and Souls, Original poem by Robin Motzer (shared on Wildlands, January 17, 2024).
Restoring Soils and Souls
I see peace and purpose where there is pain. With a deep passion for leaving the world a better place than I found it, “Restoring Soils and Souls” on Wildlands is a project to heal mind-body-spirit-nature.
Wildlands focuses on resolving problems at their core. Wildlands project, “Restoring Soils and Souls” serves to make the world better by helping humans, non-humans and nature heal through service to love. Let’s get to the root of our problems and fix them, for good. Traumas are needs that haven’t been met. Let’s find the barriers and borders within ourselves. We need relationships for restorations, resolutions that are simple, sincere and symbiotic. From borders and barriers to blessings…
Ask yourself:
What blockages within me are keeping me from receiving good, blessings, gifts?
What do I need to learn from this experience?
Please show me how to fix it.
Healing the land heals people and resolves many problems.
Putting people to work to heal the land, creates jobs, purpose and gives back to life. When we connect with the soil, with our hands in the earth, we feel a deep rooted connection with Mother Earth. When we work together on restoration projects, collaborating, we build a truly sustainable community. We all seek relationships- with ourselves, others, with nature, a nonhuman… restoration work serves a greater as a way to heal. Love heals trauma.
Let’s dig deeper, with our hearts and souls, hands in the soil, let’s Know Thyself.
Tyrants promise if the humans’ hubris power over the humus (soils) and all beings (souls), all will be well for them. When they give their governance what they want, they would be rewarded.
Greed and need overtook the soils and souls and those who overpowered, lost their souls in the process. What can we learn from all of this? Let’s explore the following examples and go within for answers:
Many of us met with Arizona leaders to discuss the vulnerability of the wall during monsoons, especially through the San Pedro River. Our voices were not heard. The new wall could not stand up to Mother Nature’s monsoon rains. Was it worth all of the economic, ecological, human and spiritual damage?
I worked with several descendants of ancient Mayans who owned small family farms in South America. Each man was about five feet tall, gentle, and spoke an ancient Mayan dialect. They were run off their farms when gangs took their land, homes, animals, and livelihoods. The University of Arizona brought in experts and catalogued at least twelve different Mayan dialects that they did not know existed. The people left everything behind for their survival. Do we hear and see their needs? What would you do if this happened to you?
The non-humans and nature need homes, too. The San Pedro River is home to millions of species of all kinds, including humans. What can we do to respect all of life? What can YOU do to have more peace, empathy and courage within yourself?
There is a lot of trauma and we need to restore soils and souls. I worked with a non-profit and co-created an “Art and Movimiento” class to help people with their traumas, including the Mayans. A public art show at a City Council Ward office was created to share their stories with the public.
We need a new story.
Humus not Hubris
“Restoring Soils and Souls” project is to inspire you to restore self, dream a new dream for the world, give to others and re-story yourself. Dream of forests, waters, and soils thriving. Dream of habitants in those habitats living freely. Dream that all of the children are fed, the world, your community peaceful, beautiful, loving and happy. Dream into reality. Dreams Matter.
How do we get out of nightmares of bad relationships, jobs, problems?
Restory Yourself: Speak Truth, Live Kindly, Do Good, See Connection with Life and Celebrate.
Partner for a purpose to repair damage, it helps you restore, too. Sacred actions serve a very deep healing of trauma of nature, non-humans, and humans. Repairing is how we share our souls- show who we really are- the change we want to see. Spiritual acuity (evolved souls) are essential for health, relationships, the environment (soils)-all sustain our mind-body-spirit-nature.
The border wall used millions of gallons of Quitobaquito’s ancient sacred spring water, blew up Guadulupe Canyon in Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge-a pristine mountain nature sanctuary, and built a wall that got washed out within a few weeks of its building through San Pedro River, the last free-flowing river in the Desert Southwest. That’s a lot of trauma, and several of us witnessed it and were vocal about working together to fix problems wisely. All species must be included. Time for “Restoring Soils and Souls”- Nature’s Paramedics means true sustainability.
The meaning of Guadelupe, akin to Mother Mary, where water, nature, wildlife, and humans are all nestled on Mother Earth. Look within and ask, who are we to destroy?
Let’s dream that each one of us and our Mother are healed, renewed, grateful to teach, provide and give to one another. The humans and non-humans are brethren, blessings to each other. May our Soils and Souls be grateful and Unite!
A fellow witness, John Kurc, filmed the border wall and the devastation of nature and partnerships. I helped to encourage John to make a film. His work became American Scar, which was picked up by The New Yorker.
Watch and read the story of a small group of us witnessing the destruction of nature in a remote wilderness refuge.
Award-winning, two time Pulitzer Prize jurist- journalist Sandra Sanchez, did an outstanding job of sharing the account of a mountain, a river, wildlife and people being affected by the border wall. It is both devastating and an honor to be one of the witnesses interviewed and filmed.
Habitat Restoration/ Rewilding is one answer to many problems. Your financial support will help fund habitat restoration projects for the wild and for humans. The more financial support, the more habitats we can restore. Sentience matters. Let’s protect all species: fins, feathers, fur, wings, scales, four leggeds and two legged ones.
